Just 15 days after her success at IRONMAN Finland, Laura Philipp is already back on top of the podium. After swimming in Lake Zell, just behind the Italian Margie Santimaria, Philipp changed the fastest and was the first to get on his bike. On the 90.1 kilometers, the 34-year-old German showed her qualities to the full and left nothing to burn until the finish line. Philipp won in 04:21:49 and was more than ten minutes ahead of her compatriot Anne Reischmann.
For her part, Reischmann came out of the water in eleventh place and steadily increased as the race continued. After 15 kilometers on the bike, Reischmann was able to fight her way up to third place, before she was able to overtake Estonian Kaidi Kivioja shortly before 58 kilometers. After that she did not give up second place and thus continues her strong season in Pinzgau. Kivioja was not deterred by Reischmann’s overtaking maneuver and pulled her pace through to the end, with which she was able to secure third place ahead of Simone Kumhofer. The reigning national champion in the short and middle distance showed a strong performance especially on the bike, but in the end there was not enough strength to catch the Estonian.

Start-finish victory for Stratmann

After several podium places this season, Jan Stratmann was able to take the first IRONMAN 70.3 victory of his career at the IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun – and in a convincing manner. Stratmann was the first to get out of the water and did not give up his lead until the finish line. After 3:59:42, the 26-year-old German crossed the finish line and was allowed to celebrate after a strong performance.
Almost five and a half minutes later it got really loud again at the finish line – local hero and Olympian Lukas Hollaus took second place after a spirited race. Still in fourth place after cycling, Hollaus went one step further while running and was able to overtake his compatriots Paul Ruttmann & Georg Enzenberger. While Ruttmann couldn’t finish the race, Enzenberger secured 3rd place.
